Old inn town near the Luberon

Lambesc climbs a slope of the Trévaresse hills at the foot of the Chaîne des Côtes, with the Luberon not far off. For centuries it lived from passing travellers: around twenty inns are on record, and only the Bras d’Or survives with its original sign. Today this town of just over 10,000 people draws visitors with its Church of Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption, a museum of local art and archaeology, and the 11th-century Romanesque chapel of Sainte-Anne de Goiron on the Manivert plateau.

Around 39 minutes from arrivals

Lambesc is 33 km from Marseille Provence Airport by road, roughly 39 minutes. The fare is agreed when you book and covers the whole vehicle: €53 Eco, €63 Sedan, €87 van, tolls and luggage included, at any hour and on any day. Your driver tracks your flight, meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign and will wait up to an hour after landing at no charge.

Staying out towards the plateau

Sainte-Anne de Goiron sits up on the Manivert plateau, well away from the town centre, so if your accommodation is out that way, give the full address. Lambesc is linked to La Roque-d’Anthéron by the Col de Sainte-Anne, which makes it a handy base for exploring further north. The neighbouring villages of Vernègues, La Barben, Charleval and Saint-Cannat are served in exactly the same way.

Good to know about Lambesc

The irrigated plains around Lambesc grow wheat, vines and olives. The Canal de Marseille passes 1.5 km from the town as it leaves a 4 km tunnel. By the late 18th century the town already had a soap works, tile kilns and seven olive mills within its walls.
