A Durance town in the Alpilles park

Home to around 7,000 people, Sénas is part of the Alpilles regional nature park. The Durance, once feared for its floods, forms its boundary with Cheval-Blanc in the Vaucluse, and the Alpilles canal runs through the town. In the centre, the church of Saint-Amand, begun in the late 11th century, is a listed monument. A stretch of wall known as the Parée is all that recalls the old castle, which vanished after the Revolution, while the Bosquet bridge, nicknamed the Roman bridge, has crossed the canal since the late 18th century.

From the runway to Sénas

The road journey is about 45 km and typically takes 35 minutes. Prices are set per vehicle when you book, so a full car costs no more: €72 in Eco, €86 in a Sedan and €119 in a van. Tolls and luggage are included and there is no night or weekend surcharge. Your driver keeps track of your flight and waits in the arrivals hall with your name on a sign, with an hour of free waiting after landing.

Staying near Orgon or Eyguières

Sénas borders Orgon, Lamanon, Eyguières and, across the river, Cheval-Blanc. Many visitors stay in farmhouses scattered between these places, so give the precise address or property name when booking. When it is time to fly home, choose your pick-up time and the driver will come to your door; the trip back to the airport costs the same as the trip out. Free cancellation applies up to 24 hours before pick-up.

Good to know about Sénas

The chapel of Notre-Dame du Bon Voyage opened in 1967 to replace an older chapel demolished when the RN 7 road was widened. The Pont de la Pierre wash house, last of the town’s three, was built in 1924 and restored in 2004. The town motto translates as ‘a triple bond does not break’.
