Medieval walls by the Arc
Trets is a town of close to 11,000 inhabitants, with the Arc river crossing the north of the commune. Shops cluster in the centre, and a business area is growing at La Burlière on the outskirts. The 14th-century ramparts once had eight towers and three gates, named after Pourrières, Amont and Clastre. The feudal castle, probably 13th-century, keeps its machicolations, arrow slits and painted ceilings. The parish church of Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth combines a Romanesque nave with a Gothic chapel added in 1362.
